I know they are cheapish but do they really have to be so scuddy. In the one I stayed in last week the fixtures and fittings were all so wonky that when I woke up I thought I was in a German Expressionist film set just like this

The film is The Cabinet of Dr Caligari which was made in Germany in the 1920s. Its about a fortune telling sleepwalker Cesare, that Reg Holdsworth lookalike Dr Caligari keeps in a cabinet. Then he wakes up and runs amok. The bloke with the eye make up is Conrad Veidt who later turned up as Major Strasser in Casablanca.
