Urghh back from holiday and thanks to poor WiFi I never got to tell you lot what I did so lets go back in time to last Sunday.

Woke up to find the Sun streaming in through the windows, knocked up some sweet chile sausage butties for breakfast (two packets of six for £4.00 at the Camelford Co-Op) much nicer than the ones from Tesco. Spent the morning by the pool then headed off to Trebarwith Strand.

When we got thee the tide was due out in 20 minutes so rather than hang about we headed up to the Port William where Old Nick and I sampled the local Cornish Rattler draft cider which was very refreshing with a divine fruity flavour. Once the tide was on its way out we hit the beach where the Powder Monkey had a great time hunting for crabs and blennys. On the way back up I saw a sign for Kelly's Cornish Ice Cream which brought back some fond memories of childhood holidays in Cornwall in the 1960s so I bought some for the Monkey, Mab and I. Wonderfully creamy just as I remembered it except that we wee all in black and white in those days.

Back to the lodge where we decided to try the Lanteglos Hotel restaurant.

Once we had managed to instill the idea of a starter being the thing you eat before the main course, we started with the Nacho Plate between the four of us which I thought was a little stingy for the price and could have done with some jalapeno peppers to pep it up a bit.

This was followed by Steak for Old Nick and Mab, Cornish Crab Cakes for me and sausage and mash for the Powder Monkey. The steaks looked good with their little log cabin of chunky chips, but while the crab cakes were quite tastythey were a bit dry, with drinks (no real ale just keg bitter or Carlsberg - yuk) it came to about £65 which was a bit pricey for what we got.
