Brains and Village People

Back up to Edinburgh to visit the Moff yesterday.

Noticed that the crew on EasyJet have a new smart uniform, designed by the crew themselves apparently, but still very orange. I think its a bit of a shame really I liked the more casual looking outfits, this new look is very corporate and not that different from any other airline.

Blagged a free copy of the Scottish Daily Mail at the airport to get a reasoned account of how Eastern Europeans are eating all the Scottish swans and hamsters and haggis and releasing baskets of snakes in popular tourist sites, and the effect this is having on poor old Princess Diana.

Having got into town we had a good feed at the Buffet King all you can eat Chinese (6A Nicholson Street), pretty basic grub, but we stuffed ourselves on sweet and sour chicken, Singapore noodles, beef in blackbean sauce, various different rice dishes, sesame toast, spring rolls and the like for £23 including drinks and ice cream for three.

Feeling a bit stuffed after all that we went for a walk up Carlton Hill and had a nose round the cemetery that has the burnt out mausoleums of Robert Burns and David Hume (although no goth photoshoots, ska bands playing the Guns of Navarone or Spitfires this time). Then on for a drink in the Cannon Gate and the Ensign Ewart before descending on the Aha Ha Ha joke shop where I bought a groovy plastic brain, not sure why yet, but I just had to have it.

Now it was there that Old Nick pointed to a joke Red Indian headress and suggested that we could form a Village People tribute band. I thought what a great idea but looking at a judicial periwig next to it why not use some really British icons.

Just imagine it those great hits like In the Navy, Go West and YMCA performed by a High Court Judge, a Beefeater, Scots piper, a Church of England Bishop with mitre and crozier, a Morris Man (thanks for that idea Spike) and a builder with his arse hanging out of his pants.

Having reached this high point we had a drink in the Meadows, the Doctors then haddock and chips at the Central and then the evening just went down hill all the way to the Last Drop hah ha ha, and then up to the Ewart and the Pear Tree. hic
